THE POWER OF YET
How three letters can change your mindset
Educator, Kelly Taylor, discusses a Growth Mindset and the Power of Why based off the works and research of Carol Dweck. Having a growth mindset is so important because our attitude shapes our reaction to setbacks and challenges. Every person will be faced with challenges in their life and everyone fails. People with a growth mindset do not let these failures prevent them from giving up. Since people with growth mindsets persevere in the face of challenges, they are more likely to be successful and have a greater sense of free will since they continue to learn and grow in the face of failure.
I try to instill a growth mindset in my students by focusing on their own personal growth and effort rather than grades.
Everyday I practice instilling a Growth Mindset as to create path to success in my own education and career. There are things that I face everyday that I can't do or I don't know... YET!

MY JOURNEY INTO GROWTH
STEPS TO DEVELOP A GROWTH MINDSET
Implement these steps in your life for a whole new outlook
Step 1: Learn to hear your "fixed" mindset voice.
When you feel like giving up after a challenge or failure, realize that this is your "fixed" minds voice. Recognizing this voice in your thoughts is the first step to instilling a new GROWTH MINDSET. In your organization, create a culture of recognizing a "fixed" mindset in yourself and in others. Create an atmosphere of trust by promoting honest and responsive feedback that brings attention to effort and "growth" mindset ideas.
Step 2: Recognize that you have a choice.
Your attitude, effort, and GRIT are choices made by You! The frame of mind that you choose has affect on your success, make the right choice! In your organization, give opportunities to yourself and others to change mindsets from "fixed" to "growth" through feedback and collaboration.
Step 3: Talk back with a growth mindset voice.
Add the word "YET" to your vocabulary. If your "fixed" mindset says, "I can't do this", then instill a GROWTH MINDSET by saying, "I can't do this YET"
When you start using the word "YET" out loud, it will naturally become part of your vocabulary. Your words will shape our mind and your mind will shape your words and actions. Your organization will develop a climate of positivity and perseverance by changing the vocabulary of how failure is viewed and talked about.
Step 4: Take the growth mindset action.
Take steps everyday to become aware of the mindset that you are in. Be proactive when faced with challenges to start off with a growth mindset
Be accepting of feedback that promotes your Growth. Mindsets are contagious, let's spread a mindset of GROWTH! Reward people in your organization with their effort and hard work. Still praise people for their successes but make sure to give constant feedback through processes and practices that might be a challenge. If possible, in organizations, deadlines and assessments should be based off of effort and growth rather than focused on achievements and completion.
